I am 50 years old. I have been into fitness since the age of 29.

I started lifting weight weighing 210 lbs 7 years later was up to a whopping 216! During this time I tried every supplement and weight program available. I classified myself as a "hardgainer" being the tall and skinny type. I then did my research on the internet and injected myself with veterinary grade anabolic steroids over a period of 8 weeks and lifted hard and ate right and shot up to 238lbs.

10 to 12 lbs was water weight but I did put on 10 lbs of solid muscle that I still have today. What's this have to do with Advocare? What happens to people who desperately want to change is they will do anything to get there. what are we shown when we look in muscle magazines?

Huge ripped muscles and every other page has a full page ad for a natural supplement so you can look like they do. You don't get too look like them big boys legally, end of story. My wife has recently started selling Advocare despite my objections. She swears by Spark.

She says it doesn't give her the jitters like coffee. Why? Because other than being a concoction of artificial sweetner, b vitamins and 100 mg of caffiene, she only has one serving as where coffee, she has two or three cups hence the jitters. She recently started using catalyst.

I read the ingredients and compared it to the $14 can of whey protein powder I purchased at Wal-Mart for my own use and showed her that there was a higher dose of all of the amino acids in one serving of whey protein than in the three large pills she had to choke down. Plus you get the added benefit of the protein. Now its the 24 day challenge. What a joke!

She started it with all of the Advocare supplements and I did without purchasing the *** and I have lost 8 pounds more than her in the first week and we are on the same diet. Why? Because she is already fit and I have been on a mass gaining diet through the winter while lifing weights. Here are the things that *** me off about the 24 day challenge.

1. Herbal Cleanse. Looks like metamucel to me. Save you money of you want laxative and run down to Dollar General.

That's what our liver and kidneys are for. 2. Omega Plex. Save some money and buy some fish oil.

3. Spark. Have 1 cup of coffee ro a diet Dew. 4.

Meal replacement shakes. Put a scoop of the $14 prtein along with a cup of skim milk and banana and blend. It tastes a lot better and has more protein. 5.

MNS have a cup of greek yogurt and some almonds. 6. Probiotics..Have some more yogurt and dairy. Summary; The reason people lose weight is because you can not have alcohol, you cut out all refined carbs and it recomends you workout 30 minutes 5 to 6 days a week which most people that start this challenge are not currently doing.

The directions state NO coffee so we have to purchase the Spark for our morning caffiene fix. Also NO dairy so we have to purchase ProBiotics. Also NO alcohol at least in the first 10 days. There are many people that drink every night including myself.

By cutting alcohol it saves me 300-600 calories daily.

The worst part of it is she has reached Advisor Status and we are making money and I can't stand it because I know there is no magic in supplements.

Anything that is real is already in the hands of the pharmecutical companies and comes by presciption only.

You are right that you can obtain the same nutrition results in other ways. Yes, you can be eating all those things that you indicate.

And yes, part of why you lose is because you are drinking more water, cutting out alcohol, fatty foods, etc.

However -- that's what the Advocare Cleanse plan does, it helps you break those habits, maintain healthier habits while on a structured plan. Once you are done, usually most of those habits will stick.

Is this neccessary to lose weight?

Nope!

Is this the ONLY way to lose weight and start a path towards getting healthy, and maintaining healthy habits?

Definitely Not! Everything you need to start (including the supplements, eating plan, meal replacements) is laid out for you, and it will most definitely kick start you will 5-10 lbs lost and healthy habits.

So, yes it definitely works. If you don't like it, and want to use another method, go for it!

Wow this makes sooo much sense! Thank you for opening my eyes!

I was just about to purchase this advocare product and after reading this I've decided to not buy it and go with my gut instincts!

You should be a trainer! Thanks for the info!!

Personally, I loved advocare. I have been taking the products for over a year and they're amazing.

The 24-Day challenge, which I'm currently doing again right now, is one of the best plans I've discovered, and I've tried everything. It teaches you the right things to eat, even after the challenge. It's a kickstart to a lifestyle change.

I've always had positive results, and a MAJOR change in my energy level, so I have absolutely nothing bad to say about advocare or the challenge. It's simple, don't knock it until you try it :))

I just want to thank the person who made this comment before me. I was looking into this program not knowingif this would be good for me.

There are too many out there and half of them are just that...***. I have come to the conclusion there is no magic program that is going to make you skinny.

Thank you for your honesty and giving this review. You saved me and many others from waisting our money.

Your next to last sentence sums up your knowledge perfectly. "there is no magic in supplements'.

HOWEVER, you are purchasing $14 protein (supplements) from walmart.

That is slam full of fillers that you do not need, and CLAIMS X number of g of protein and I guarantee thats not the actual amount of protein in it. Do some research my friend.

You guarantee....no you don't, you don't know. Those products are as regulated as the garbage Advocare overcharges in there MLM pyramid.

The 24 day Challenge is not a scam because my family and I have had nothing but success using Advocare products. We felt considerably better and I have lost some weight.

The cost of the program is my only gripe... and maybe the fact that the majority of the Spark flavors taste nasty.

Yes it is...do your research. Following a simple diet and replacing 1 meal with any protein shake supplement and same working out will provide the same exact results, END OF STORY.

Any nutritionist would explain this to you.

Can anyone else besides me see this is satire?

Well I enjoyed this article! Thanks for your input.

I was just curious what all this huff was about 24 day challenge so I googled it. I don't understand why people are getting so upset. If you like the products use them if not don't use them! But for any supplement taking a lot of them..

like lots of pills - vitamins, or even if you over use protein powder ect...you are just buying expensive urine.

And I learned that in medical school. But if these products or other products or no products help to keeps this overweight society healthy and fit thats what matters!

Why do have to talk to people like that? Calling people you DON'T EVEN KNOW a dumb***??

I wouldn't buy a stamp from YOU!! Rude, ignorant, uneducated, and please tell me why the *** would I want to stay on product the rest of my entire life??

But....he's right. LOL

I follow the advocare meal plan but I buy my own supplements, shake mix, fiber, fish oil, nuts, yogurt, etc from Walmart.

SAME RESULTS. I know this because some one gave me a 24 day challenge when they got pregnant and didn't want to use it so I tried it. I DO purchase the fruit punch spark because I love the taste. Other than that..I am not giving that company my money.

Be smart and research things before you waste $$. I can use that $ on new clothes :)
